Early Offensive Outburst Carries Yankees Past Indians

Wednesday night, the New York Yankees continued their series in Cleveland against the Indians. Just one day after being shut down by Indians pitcher Josh Tomlin in his major league debut.

In the top of the first, Alex Rodriguez drove a single to center to score Mark Teixeira, getting the scoring started. Rodriguez is still chasing after the 600th home run of his career, which seems to be elusive for the Yankees third baseman. One night after weakly bouncing out to short to end the game as the tying runner, Rodriguez left five more Yankees on base.

The run scored in the first inning would prove to be enough, but the Yankees added more runs in the second, third, and fourth innings until finally letting up on the Indians pitching staff. ...
