New York Yankees: Why Andy Pettitte’s Comeback Is Great News for the Team

Jack Curry of the YES Network announced on Friday that former New York Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte will make a comeback to pitch in 2012.

Pettitte signed a one-year minor league deal worth around $2.5 million and will join a rotation that already has CC Sabathia, Ivan Nova, Hiroki Kuroda, Phil Hughes, Michael Pineda and Freddy Garcia.

Pettitte announced his retirement from baseball back in February of 2011. However, when he was invited to be a special instructor at spring training this year, Pettitte got the itch to pitch again.
