Teixeira has split with Scott Boras and is looking for a new agent, becoming the second New York Yankees star to so in the last year. Third baseman Alex Rodriguez was the first to do so.
Those moves actually make a great deal of sense for all parties involved, including Boras.
Consider that Rodriguez and Teixeira, while under Boras, have each signed what will almost certainly be the final huge contract of their respective careers. The work has been done, and all the money—including commissions—has been earned, if not yet paid.
Simply put, Boras doesn't stand to make a great deal more money from ARod or Teixeira, who don't need a Boras-type agent to negotiate any more massive contracts on his behalf. Teixeira agrees.
