New York Yankees Sign Leonel Vinas, an Amateur Player from Hank’s Yanks

style="text-align: justify;">The Yankees announced the signing of 19-year-old righty Leonel Vinas, an amateur player who has spent the last year with co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner’s Hank’s Yanks.

Hank’s Yanks is an amateur team that is made up of players “from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds throughout the New York area.”

Vinas was the ace of that team who has drawn attention to himself when he tossed two no-hitters and when he out-dueled Mariano Rivera’s son, Mariano Rivera Jr., at the “Boss’ Cup,” an amateur game held at Yankee Stadium this past year.
